Chapter Fifteen (Closing Chapter): (i) Moses is the one that reveals within Israel the virtue of the “foot”, strengthens and reveals their Faith, that “And Your people are all righteous`”, “The scion of my planting”, which refer to the Torahschool children. (ii) In the dark times of exile, like in the times of Haman, Mordechai -- which “Mordechai in his generation is equal to Moses in his generation”-- and strengthened the faith of the people, and through this overcame the enemy.
(iii) This is the meaning of (the verse’s stating) “crushed for the luminary”, that in the times of exile, when Israel is broken, that is specifically when one reaches the “Luminary - Essence of G-d” Himself. Which this then is the, “to elevate (keep lit) the candle (lights of the Temple’s Menorah being burning) perpetually”, which is the “The candle of G-d is the soul of man”. (iii) This is the, “(The Jews) ordained, and took upon them, (and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them),’ (and he taught: The Jews) ordained what they had already taken upon themselves (through coercion at Sinai)”.
For at Mount Sinai the Giving of the Torah was as a revelation from Above. (Thus it wasn't the revelation of the Essence of the Soul, the faith of the Infinite Encompassing Circular Light). However, in the times of Achashverosh, which was like the times of King Achav, who closed the Torah-schools, and Isaiah told him (Achav), “What will this help, for at the end, are not I and the children which G-d gave me as a sign and as a winder among Israel”. And they rebuild that which Achav destroyed. (iv) So too it was in the times of Haman, who tried to destroy everything, starting with the Torah-schools of children.
Mordechai then gathered congregations in public, and strengthened their faith in G-d, through the Torah-study of the children, which they, the children, are the primary and the root of all. Specifically then, they “ordained”, with self-sacrifice, “what they had already taken upon themselves”. (v) This is the ultimate purpose of exile, that when “darkness covers the Earth” we are given from Above the strength to stand with selfsacrifice for the observance of Torah and Mitzvot. Through this we merit the redemption.
The Order of Concepts in the Previous Rebbe’s Mamor Besides focusing and explaining what the Previous Rebbe is saying, the Rebbe will be focusing on the following order of the concepts that the Previous Rebbe is explaining in his mamor.: First (Chapter One): “‘(The Jews) ordained, and took upon them, (and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them),’ (and he taught: The Jews) ordained what they had already taken upon themselves (through coercion at Sinai).”. Question: How in such a low state of exile was Israel able to accomplish what they couldn't in the highest state of being at Mt. Sinai.
Answer: Specifically in exile was Israel’s observance of Torah and Mitzvos with Self-Sacrifice. And the self-sacrifice of Israel was brought forth my Mordechai, the Moses of his generation. And this is why Israel was able to complete in the times of exile that which they couldn't at Mt, Sinai, for in exile it was done with self-sacrifice, which lifted them even higher than they were at Mt. Sinai. Second: (Chapter Four): Through that which Moses ‘bound - Tetzaveh’ Israel with G-d, Israel elevated Moses, “and they will take to you pure oil”.
Moses reveals the virtue within the “feet”, and the feet then elevate Moses, that the encompassing Crown now is internalized within Moses. Third (Chapter Four): Moses is the Faithful Shepherd, Shepherds (feeds) Faith to his flock. Moses takes the Faith that every Jew has, but is encompassing the Jew, and Moses internalizes this Faith for the Jew. This applies not just to Moses himself, but to the Moses of every generation (“Mordechai in his generation is as Moses in his generation”).
The Previous Rebbe spends until Chapter Fourteen to explain in length that Moses, and the Moses of each generation, are the “Faithful Shepherd, Shepherds (feeds) Faith to his flock”. Fourth (Chapter Fifteen): “Crushed for the Illuminator”, that in the times of exile, when every Jew is crushed (and their Torah and Mitzvos is with self-sacrifice) they reach beyond the Light, and into the Illuminator - the Essence of G-d.
Note: Besides the Rebbe explaining and extrapolating from the order in which the Previous Rebbe explains the concepts, the Rebbe will also focus on and extrapolate from the order of the verse’s “crushed for luminary” coming specifically after the “and they will take for you pure olive oil” rather than right after “And you shall command the Children of Israel”.
