Chapter Twelve Introduction This is the closing chapter of the mamor. The Rebbe explains that the simple meaning of the verse “And you shall command the children of Israel, and they shall take to you…” is that Moses is commanding the Children of Israel to take to him…. And from this we understand that it is so also concerning the mystical concepts. Moses is ‘metzaveh - connecting” the Children of Israel in a manner that he is empowering them to be able to do the “and they shall take to you”.
So too it is concerning the Moses of our generation, the Previous Rebbe, that his work is to awaken and reveal the faith of the Essence of the Soul within every Jew in a manner that they then be able to work of their own, to the point that they become “a perpetual flame” with no changes, even within their Revealed Faculties. The Rebbe then states that through this we will get to kindle the menorah in the Third Holy Temple, with the true and complete redemption by our righteous Moshiach.
“ 12) And behold the (simple) meaning of ‘And you shall command the Children of Israel and they will take to you…’ is that Moses command the Children of Israel that they ‘shall take for you…’.” Until now the Rebbe in the mamor was separating the “And you shall tetzaveh the Children of Israel” from the “And they shall take to you pure olive oil”. We were explaining that Moses is to connect the children of Israel with the Infinite Light, by feeding their encompassing faith of “their mazal saw”, that the faith be of the “Revelation of the Essence of the soul”, and through this their faith will be internalized.
This phrase of the verse speaks of what Moses is doing for Israel. Then comes the “And they shall take for you…” which is the service of Israel, that they align their Revealed Faculties with the Essence of the Soul, and that through this, they, “And they shall take to you…” that the children of Israel bring an advantage and an addition to Moses. Now the Rebbe is saying that in the simple meaning of the verse, the two phrases are one. Moses is commanding the Children of Israel that they bring to him pure olive oil. If so, this too must exist within the mystical inner meaning of the verse.
This means that the verse is telling us that this which Moses is tetzaveh - connecting the Children of Israel is in a manner that he is commanding - empowering the Children of Israel that they then be able to do their service of “And they shall take to you”: “And from this it is understood that as such it is also on the Internal Dimension (meaning of this verse), that Moses is ‘metzave’ and connecting the Children of Israel in a manner that he draws for them an empowerment also for the ‘And they shall take to you’.
” The Rebbe now turns to the Moses of Our Generation, who the Rebbe refers to is the Previous Rebbe, and we follow our Rebbe in the manner that we refer this to the Rebbe: “And so it is as well concerning the Moses of Our Generation, the Previous Rebbe, which his work was to awaken and to reveal the faith from the Essence of the Soul within every one of Israel, that it be in a manner that afterwards they do their service of their own strength, to the point that it be ‘a perpetual flame’, which there is no changes within it, also from the aspect of the Revealed Faculties.
” The point here that the Rebbe is emphasizing is that the Rebbe is giving strength, by revealing the faith of the “Essence of the Soul” that we then have the power to do our work service of our own strength. And that this service be to the point that even our Revealed faculties, our Intellect, Emotions, Thoughts, Speech, and Actions be in a manner of “a perpetual candle” with no changes. Note: One cannot help but hear the Rebbe talking to us about the period we are living through now, until the Rebbe will once again be with us as “a soul within a body”. Look at the transcript of what the Rebbe said in delivering the mamor orally.
The Rebbe is emphasizing that the Moses be specifically “a soul in a body here below”. May we have this imminently.
The Rebbe in the closing paragraph of the mamor connects this all with our meriting the complete and true redemption, through our righteous Moshiach: “ And through this truly imminently we merit the true and complete redemption, which then there will be revelation of Divinity also from the Below. And then there will be the bringing of the oil and the kindling of the menorah (’And they shall take to you oil… to kindle a perpetual candle’), also physically, in the third Holy Temple, with the true and complete redemption through our righteous Moshiach, truly imminently.” Footnotes There are no FOOTNOTES on this chapter.
