We have seen that if the entire body became covered with the nega except for the tip of a single limb, this is not considered that the nega spread over the whole body. Our Mishnah now clarifies the law of the tips of the limbs:

"Kol perichas rashei eivarim shebiferichasan taharu":

Whenever the nega spreads onto the area of the tips of the limbs as well - such as the tip of a person's finger - and through this spreading the entire body became covered, a person who was tamei until now on account of his tzaraas becomes tahor.

"Kesheyachzeru - tamei":

When the nega disappears even from that one part of the body alone, the person becomes tamei once again, since the nega is no longer spread over the entire body.

"Kol chaziras rashei eivarim shebachazirasan timu":

Whenever the nega disappears from the tips of the limbs: a person who became tahor because the nega spread over his entire body - once the nega disappears from that area, he becomes tamei once again.

  • "Niskasu" - if that part of the body became covered with the nega another time, he is tahor - he becomes tahor once again.

  • "Nisgalu" - if the nega disappeared from that area, he is tamei - he becomes tamei once again.

  • "Afilu me'ah pe'amim" - and so it goes back and forth, time after time.

In summary: This is the main point of the Mishnah: even if the nega disappeared from that small part of the body or spread over it again, each and every time the person's status changes - he becomes tamei with tzaraas anew, or he loses the status of tzaraas and becomes tahor - no matter how many times this occurs.
