We begin the fourth chapter of Maseches Bikkurim, Mishnah 1. First, an introductory point: this chapter is not a Mishnah in the usual sense, but a beraisa - a Tosefta that was appended to Maseches Bikkurim. It is not included in the tractate in every edition, and it is also found at the end of other tractates of Mishnah. Since it is part of the daily Mishnah cycle, Rabbi Pinchas Kehati included it in his edition. For this reason, many of the classical commentators do not appear on this chapter at all.
The connection to Maseches Bikkurim:
The chapter's placement in Maseches Bikkurim stems from the topics discussed in the second chapter. There we dealt with things that resemble one another in one respect and differ in another, and in particular with the koy - which has ways in which it resembles a wild animal and ways in which it resembles a domesticated animal.
Similarly, this chapter deals with the status of the androginos - a person who has both male and female organs, and therefore various halachic questions arise concerning him.
The wording of the Mishnah:
"Yeish bo derachim shaveh la'anashim" - there are ways in which he is considered in halachah to be a man.
"Yeish bo derachim shaveh lanashim" - there are ways in which he is considered to be a woman.
"Yeish bo derachim shaveh la'anashim v'lanashim" - there are ways in which he is considered to be like men and women alike.
"Yeish bo derachim eino shaveh lo la'anashim v'lo lanashim" - and there are ways in which he resembles neither a man nor a woman.
In summary: we learned the unique status of the fourth chapter, which is a beraisa appended to Maseches Bikkurim because of its similarity to the discussion of the koy in the second chapter, and the four categories that the Mishnah sets out regarding the status of the androginos.
